Most types of Legal Aid in Scotland are means-tested and based on the merits of your case. Following an initial consultation with our team, they will be able to assess your case and, if appropriate, submit an application to the Scottish Legal Aid Board on your behalf. The application process for civil cases usually takes around 6 weeks. Criminal applications are usually determined within a shorter period of time than civil applications . However, the length of time for any legal aid application can be affected by requests from the Scottish Legal Aid Board for further information about you, your financial position or your case.
